Contests Category?

I set this topic up on the forums a while ago. I got quite a few posts agreeing that there should be a Contents Category, if only to keep the forums more organized.

Something I had in mind -

A separate category for contests, so they wouldn't be scattered over the forums.

The forums inside could include -

Forum Competitions - For contests such as Kyonko's contest. Ya know the "greatest contest ever" thingy. This could separate competitions such as these from the regular forum ones such as GFX Battles. These contests could be hosted by Admins, for example.

Versus the Forum - And this is where the others could go. GFX battles, Angelic's new Fanfiction competition, AMV contests (if they return) and anything else that could be thought of by forum members.

Versues isn't really a contest either.

Yeah, that's the gist of it. If only for organization's sake. GFX can be left alone, I suppose. The others however, can be put in that category I've been talkin' about.

I like this idea. It organises things more and would perhaps increase activity in competitions. If they're all in the same place then members know where to look and they have an array of choice. It would also encourage members to host their own competitions.

I do think that if we have it, the GFX competitions should be there as they're the most active competitions and that way the rest of the section and the other competitions would get more views.

I like this idea. I too think that the GFX competitions should be in this Catagory, for the reasons Mitas suggested.

I would also suggest that we name this catagory "Forum Activities" instead, and put the Mafia forum in it too.

I dunno about this. I mean I understand the idea but it's a matter of perspective. What do you think is more organized. The way we have it right now is that every contest is in it's own section along with the subject of the contest. So for example all the SOTW and Graphics battles are IN the GFX section instead of the a whole section of contests. All the contests being in one category would mean we also have to divide every contest in it's proper section. They wouldn't all lump into one big section that makes it disorganized. And honestly I can't think of many other contests at the moment aside from the "Greatest Contest Ever" from Kyonko, the GFX and Ana's fanfic. So I think it would be better if we had more contests but I can't think of any that we really have.

It's not a bad idea, it's just their is a point where the organization of the forum can become disorganized. I don't think this new Category would help unless we had more contests and battles that weren't capable of being organized.

I agree with Rebel. Since there are only a few contests, it seems silly to have a whole section for them. Unless there were going to be more contests, I would say leave it how it is.

I feel silly for not being around to see these posts. 

I'm happy there was discussion, at least. If we do get more contests, can this be taken into consideration again?

It's being taken into consideration BF you can't give up on it yet. nomnom and I think it's not needed but you have Mitas and Sousen who agree with you. So it's just a matter of diplomacy and seeing all the sides to an idea. It's not just a yes or no unless Kyonko pulls his dictatorship card. So just relax, maybe it'l still get passed, maybe not. We need time and activity to see things through.

I would argue that if there was a section for contests then there would be more activity and, as a result, more contests being put forward.

Well then I could possibly argue that it might not happen. I mean use the Forum Games as an example Yes we've had plenty of games here and their and we did at some point have plenty of activity but hardly anyone goes to or cares about the forum game. I can understand how it Could be different if members got something out of doing contests but it end up being the same thing.

My only argument though is that too much organization for little things can lead to disorganization. UNLESS we have more contests which I don't see.

A solution to that might be if we make like an idea contest again for other contest ideas. If that makes sense lol. If we can get more contests then I can see how this category might be handy. Otherwise it's pointless

In that case, I would think it would be sensible to put up a topic asking members for new ideas about any contests. It's the only thing I could think of for new contests.

While on the subject, has anyone considered an art contest?

I have to concede to your point about the games section. It enjoyed some success a while back, and it does now and again, but it's not one of the most used parts of the forum.

However I do think that a Contests section would be more successful. One possible idea to help this would be Contest moderators (not Super Moderators), who are volunteers that look over the section, act as judges if they want to or are needed, and keeping up activity in the section.
